The San Francisco Bay Area Illini Club is committed to supporting the privacy of University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) alumni, current UIUC students, and friends of UIUC who use this site by requiring all users of the San Francisco Bay Area Illini Club to agree to the following privacy and usage policy. Purpose of the San Francisco Bay Area Illini Club
San Francisco Bay Illini (SFBI) is committed to our mission of connecting the 19,000+ Illinois alums in the Bay Area – the largest Illini population outside the state of Illinois.
Services
San Francisco Bay Area Illini Club (SFBI) website is a landing page for various social media accounts (for example, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn) and communities (for example, LinkedIn Group, Facebook Group, Slack). The membership information is managed by Illinois Alumni Association (https://uialumninetwork.org/). For external websites (social media and communities), please refer to their privacy and usage policy.
For online community (e.g. Slack) sign-up, we may collect your information, in order to verify your identity before sending out invitation. Your information is solely used to verify identity. We will add your email to our mail list but you can choose to opt out any time. You can opt out by clicking the link in email or email us at sfbiclub@gmail.com.
Usage
Certain uses of the San Francisco Bay Area Illini Club or any of the information obtained through these services which are inconsistent with the Purpose, constitute a violation of this policy and are prohibited. Such prohibited uses include but are not limited to
(a) activities that are illegal (e.g. are fraudulent or violate copyright or other laws);
(b) activities that defame, abuse, harass, stalk, threaten, or otherwise violate the legal rights of others;
(c) publication, posting, uploading, distributing or disseminating any inappropriate, profane, defamatory, obscene, indecent or unlawful content;
(d) uploading files that contain viruses or other similar software or programs that may affect or damage the operation of another's computer or another's property, or that may affect the operation of the Infinite Connection or networks connected to the Infinite Connection;
(e) use that inaccurately implies endorsement, approval, or sponsorship by San Francisco Bay Area Illini Club or the UIUC Alumni Association (or any individual employee or officer of the Institute or the Association);
(f) use that can be confused with official communications of San Francisco Bay Area Illini Club or the UIUC Alumni Association (or any individual employee or officer of the Institute or the Association);
(g) use that can be confused with official communications of UIUC clubs, classes, or groups, or their officers;
(h) use that violates San Francisco Bay Area Illini Club or UIUC Alumni Association policies and procedures (you may not use information about UIUC alumni for non-UIUC purposes or for use by organizations not affiliated with UIUC and may not use this information in conjunction with any commercial purpose(s).); and
(i) mass mailings, faxes or emails (sometimes known as spamming).
The UIUC Alumni Association may deny further access to all or a portion of the Infinite Connection, including but not limited to the Online Alumni Directory or Email Forwarding for Life services to anyone who violates this policy.
Sharing of your Contact Information Within San Francisco Bay Area Illini Club
When a user subscribes to the San Francisco Bay Area Illini Club and provides an email address, postal address or phone number for any purpose to the UIUC Alumni Association, it may be used by the Association and San Francisco Bay Area Illini Club to communicate with the user for any reason in the future. Users may opt-out of email communication by clicking the link in the emails or by contacting us at sfbiclub@gmail.com
Limitations on Use
San Francisco Bay Area Illini Club services are for the convenience of UIUC alumni, current UIUC students, associate members of the Association, and friends of UIUC, and are not intended to expose San Francisco Bay Area Illini Club or the UIUC Alumni Association to liability.
NEITHER San Francisco Bay Area Illini Club NOR THE UIUC ALUMNI ASSOCIATION MAKES ANY WARRANTY OR REPRESENTATION OF ANY KIND WHATSOEVER, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, CONCERNING ANY SERVICES, INFORMATION, PRODUCTS, ACTIVITIES, AND/OR INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS UNDER OR RELATED TO THIS WEBSITE, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION WHETHER THIS WEBSITE IS FREE OF ANY VIRUSES OR OTHER HARMFUL COMPONENTS OR ADVERSE ATTRIBUTES. Modification
